The first of John's two singles with the UK's top team [second only to Brentford, of course] was with theStatus Quo boys, and was a re-write of their 1988 hit 'Burning Bridges'. The track, 'Come on You Reds' re-worked the Quo's instrumental breaks [based by Andrew on the Irish Jig 'Derby Kelley'] into crowd-pleasing chants that took both theQuo andMan United toUK #1[and #1 in most European countries] for 6 weeks.

We're Gonna Do It Again

The second collaboration was betweenMan United, John,Andrew Bown,Mike Paxman and rapper 'Stryker', who was, in fact, anArsenal fan from North London calledJay who was found through their agency. This rap re-cut ofRick Parfitt,Andrew Bown &Jackie Lynton's 1978 song 'Again and Again', called 'We're Gonna do It Again', reachedUK #6 a year later.
